About the Foundation

Piedmont Augusta Foundation is a charitable organization dedicated to the development and acquisition of financial resources to ensure Piedmont Augusta'a excellence in the delivery of healthcare services to our community and region. The mission of Piedmont Augusta Foundation is accomplished through your gifts of time, talent and financial resources. Countless opportunities lie ahead to add to the investment begun in 1978 by those community leaders who worked selflessly to establish Piedmont Augusta Foundation.

About the Miracle Mile Walk

In early 2001, Queenie Jones, a former Kendall Company employee and past Piedmont Augusta Foundation (formerly University Health Care Foundation) board member, had the vision of starting a walk in our community to raise awareness and funds to fight breast cancer. Her vision came to life that October when Piedmont Augusta Foundation began The Miracle Mile Walk.

The Walk began on the original “Miracle Mile” on Marvin Griffin Road, named after then Governor, Marvin Griffin, who was instrumental in bringing businesses to Augusta. The inaugural 1-mile walk raised $3,000 and hosted just over 90 walkers. Since then, the Walk has grown to attract 15,000 participants on a 3-mile route in downtown Augusta.

The Miracle Mile Walk supports Piedmont Augusta's Randy W. Cooper, M.D., Center for Breast Health Services and the Women’s Wellness on Wheels mobile unit, which provide life-saving screenings to women in our community regardless of their ability to pay.

100% of net proceeds from The Miracle Mile Walk stays in our community and saves lives.  The Women's Wellness on Wheels mobile unit has traveled over 260,000 miles and performed over 72,000 screening mammograms thanks to the Miracle Mile Walk. With 15,000 participants, the Miracle Mile Walk is the region's largest and longest-running breast cancer event.  For decades, the Randy W. Cooper, M.D., Center for Breast Health Services has provided high quality breast care for women in our community.  Be a part of our legacy for care.
